The following hadith makes us think:
Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (PBUH) said, "For him who says: 'Subhan-Allahi wa bi hamdihi (Allah is free from imperfection, and I begin with praising Him, and to Him),' a palm-tree will be planted in Jannah."
[Tirmizhi]This hadith shows that one can invest for the Hereafter also, and not just for this Worldly benefit.
Ka'b bin Ujrah narrated:
"The Messenger of Allah said to me: '... O Ka'b bin Ujrah! There is no flesh raised that sprouts from the unlawful except that the Fire is more appropriate for it.'"
This hadith shows that one can invest in haram (unlawful), and it will harm him in the Hereafter.
With this, the following in relation to investment, are worth to note:
1. One can only invest in this World, not the Hereafter.
2. Investments can be made for benefits in this world, and for the Hereafter.
3. Investments may also be harmful to this world, and to the Hereafter.
Seeking wealth and riches is not unlawful in Islam, but a muslim must be mindful not to have anything to do with haram.
I came across an interesting investing company, Wahed Invest. They seem to be serious about keeping things lawful according to Islam.
