Etiquettes of Eid

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : من أحيا سنة من سنني، فعمل بها الناس، كان لـه مثل أجر من عمل بها، لا ينقص من أجورهم شيءٌ

Rasulullah (SAW) said: Whoever revives a sunnah from among my sunnah, and the people practise it, he gets the same reward as those who practise it, without decreasing any of their rewards.”
[Sahih – Ibn Majah]

The Sunnahs on the day of Eid are as follows:
1 – Doing ghusl before going out to the prayer. [1]
2 – Eating before going out to pray on Eid al-Fitr and after the prayer on Eid al-Adha.[2]
3 – Takbeer till prayer starts on Eid al-Fitr, and throughtout days of Tashreeq on Eid al-Adha [3]
4 – Offering congratulations, saying: Taqabbala Allaah minna wa minkum (May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you” [4]
5 – Adorning oneself with perfume and best clothings, and stay away from silk.[5] As for women, cover the adornments from non-mahram and no perfumes.
6 – Going to the prayer by one route and returning by another.[6]
